Noninvasive Tests for Chest Pain: New Insight Into Who Benefits Most

Noninvasive Tests for Chest Pain: New Insight Into Who Benefits Most

Among patients in Ontario discharged from the emergency department (ED) with chest pain, noninvasive testing was associated with a decrease in the composite outcome of cardiovascular death or MI over 1 year compared with no testing. Because this finding was driven by the subset of patients at high-risk, though, the researchers conclude that noninvasive testing may be overused in those at low or intermediate risk.
Neither of the two large contemporary trials in this space—PROMISE and SCOT-HEART—showed a robust overall benefit for noninvasive testing for chest pain evaluation and both had low rates of MI and death. According to Idan Roifman, MD (University of Toronto, Canada), the lead author of the latest study, “a general question that has arisen over the past couple of years is: is noninvasive testing warranted in certain situations and not others?”
This analysis “shows that right now we're probably doing too many of these tests in the low and intermediate groups, which is the vast majority of patients, and we may actually not be doing as many as we should in the high-risk group,” he told TCTMD. “These are patients that have had previous PCI, previous known coronary disease, previous MI, and some physicians may take a different approach on these patients and say, ‘We know that they have coronary disease, we're going to treat them medically, and we're not going to care about doing a test on them. It's not going to really change our management.’ Well, this study actually shows that maybe you should do a test on them because that's the only subgroup that actually showed benefit to testing.”
Commenting on the study for TCTMD, Michael Blaha, MD (Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, Baltimore, MD), said: “There's been a little bit of a movement among some people arguing that we don't need any testing, but of course that's not right. Testing still matters. But [this] makes the case that you really need to test the right people and if you test the right people you can improve outcomes.”
Propensity-Matched Analysis
For the study, published online this week ahead of print in the Journal of the American Heart Association, Roifman and colleagues retrospectively looked at all 370,863 adults in Ontario, Canada, who were evaluated for chest pain in the ED and sent home between April 2010 and November 2015. They identified 96,457 propensity-matched pairs of patients who did and did not undergo noninvasive testing—graded exercise stress test, stress echocardiography, myocardial perfusion imaging, or coronary CTA—within 30 days of discharge.
Those who underwent testing were 11% more likely to see a family physician (HR 1.11; 95% CI 1.10-1.12) and 74% more likely to see a cardiologist (HR 1.74; 95% CI 1.72-1.77) within 1 year of discharge compared with the no testing arm. Additionally, at both 90 days and 1 year, the testing cohort was more likely to receive an invasive evaluation and revascularization, and those over 65 years old who received testing were also more likely to be prescribed medical therapy consisting of ACE inhibitors/angiotensin-receptor blockers, statins, or beta-blockers.
“We speculate that noninvasive testing may have initiated a cascade of events leading to improved downstream processes of care which ultimately may have led to the lower rates of MACE that we observed,” Roifman and colleagues write. “While this cascade of events is speculative, it is consistent with the overall rationale of evaluating outcomes related to diagnostic testing strategies. This rationale argues that evaluation of outcomes in this context is not simply a reflection of receipt or nonreceipt of the diagnostic test itself but rather is also indicative of a chain of real-world events and decisions triggered by the diagnostic test that ultimately lead to potential observed differences in cardiovascular outcomes.”
Testing still matters. But [this] makes the case that you really need to test the right people and if you test the right people you can improve outcomes. Michael Blaha
Rates of the primary composite endpoint—cardiovascular death or hospitalization for MI—were low and similar at about 0.3% for both groups at 90 days, although there was a trend favoring no testing (HR 1.17; 95% CI 1.00-1.37). At 1 year, the rates remained low but the testing arm showed a slight though significant advantage (0.68% vs 0.78%; HR 0.87; 95% CI 0.78-0.96). This was driven by the high-risk patient group with prior MI, unstable angina, or revascularization (HR 0.75; 95% CI 0.61-0.92), as there were no significant differences seen in the low- and intermediate-risk cohorts.
“Importantly, neither the PROMISE nor SCOT-HEART trials had ‘no-testing’ arms,” note the authors. “In this study, we gained insights into the utility of noninvasive testing for coronary artery disease by evaluating the subset of patients who presented to the ED with chest pain and who were subsequently discharged home.”
They acknowledge that their study did not use a validated risk score to stratify patients into high-, intermediate-, and low-risk groups, and also the fact that the observational dataset is subject to selection bias beyond what might be overcome with propensity matching.
Ultimately, they conclude, “these results suggest that noninvasive testing for CAD after ED discharge may currently be overutilized and that risk-based testing should be considered for patients discharged from the ED for chest pain.”
‘Too Many’ Tests
As to the reason behind the discrepancy between outcomes seen at 90 days and 1 year, Roifman said “we don't know exactly what's causing this” and added that the time frames were set a priori. “The overall message of this study is the rates of MI and cardiovascular death in patients being discharged from the ED after evaluation for chest pain is super, super low. And so it doesn't matter whether you get tested or not, the rates are super, super low. Testing overall confers some benefit, which was apparent after a year. It wasn't apparent in the first 90 days, but when you dig deeper in the numbers, it's really only the subgroup of patients who are at high risk . . . that drove the entire relationship.”
The high-risk patients made up only 6.4% of the testing cohort, he explained. This “highlights that we could do a lot less of these tests,” Roifman said, encouraging physicians to use their risk-stratification tool when patients leave the emergency department to guide care instead of jumping right to a test. “It gives an idea about how much your patient can potentially benefit from a noninvasive test or [can help determine if] it is worthwhile to forgo the noninvasive test for now, manage them medically, titrate their medications. And then if they have ongoing symptoms, that's when you can do a test.”
“If the results are credible and reliable, it would imply that the vast majority of noninvasive post-chest pain admission to the ED are not warranted,” Sanjay Kaul, MD (Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA), told TCTMD in an email. “That would translate into huge cost savings!”
The overall message of this study is the rates of MI and cardiovascular death in patients being discharged from the ED after evaluation for chest pain is super, super low. Idan Roifman
Blaha said these findings are in line with subanalyses of PROMISE and SCOT-HEART in that testing can pinpoint higher-risk patients with the potential for benefit. While this study only follows patients for a year, “if you take higher-risk patients and you find out who needs either downstream preventative therapy or I guess in some cases will need a revascularization, you can improve their outcomes.”
One thing that muddies the results a bit, he said, is that the study doesn’t stratify results by individual noninvasive tests, which can communicate different information, nor by type of chest pain. “You're higher risk if you have more risk factors, [and] you're also higher risk if your more-typical chest pain,” Blaha said.
The message here is “less testing in low-risk [and a] more thoughtful approach to intermediate risk where you can see some benefit, but you probably shouldn't test everyone,” he continued. “My approach to that is to consider the risk factors and their symptom quality. If their symptoms are atypical, we're less likely of course to test. If their symptoms are typical, we're much more likely to test. And I think we can dispense with the notion that testing is pointless [as] some people might argue. Testing definitely has value, but we need to be very thoughtful about who is likely to have that value.”
The reason Roifman said many low-risk patients end up undergoing noninvasive testing is because even though there might be no objective evidence of MI in the ED and the patient is discharged, “you still feel the obligation to do some kind of noninvasive test on them after they go home to make sure you’re not missing anything. . . . That’s the natural tendency.”
This is leading to “too many” tests, Roifman concluded. “That's a lesson to be gleaned from this study is that patients really can be discharged home safely, and, yeah, they probably do need some sort of outpatient assessment by a cardiologist, but they don't necessarily need a test.”

Papaya leaves to fight dengue

Papaya Leaves: for Dengue

Papaya leaves to fight dengue
1.Mullein leaf has been used a natural medicine since ancient times. This grows as a flowering weed in many parts of the world. The leaves, flowers and roots are used to treat different health problems.  2.The leaves are often brewed into a herbal tea, which is taken internally or appliedtopically to certain areas of the body for pain relief.
3.One of the most popular uses for this herb is to treat respiratory issues. It has the ability to detox the lungs from tar, mucus and phlegm.
4.Many people who suffer with lung issues such as asthma or bronchitis use this herbal teaas it is said to improve air flow and make it easier to breathe.
5.Mullein tea is also used to treat dry coughs, sore throats and tonsillitis, as it containspowerful antioxidants which have an anti-inflammatory effects on the throat.
6.In America dried mullein leaves have been smoked using a pipe In order to enjoy thehealth benefits. We recommend inhaling the steam of the tea for a more effective method.
7.An oil made from Mullein is also excellent for destroying both internal and externalinfections. This works especially well for those suffering with a vaginal yeast infection, but also canbe used to treat skin infections.
8.It can be applied to haemmorhoids to help ease the pain and shrink them, by simply gentlydabbing mullein oil to the affected area.
9.Drinking the tea on a regular basis can prevent infections from any types of bacteria, asthe leaves have some powerful antibacterial properties.
10.Mullein Flower Oil is often used to treat earaches and ear infections in both childrenand adults.  11.Alternatively to reap the benefits, the leaves can simply be chewed and then simply spatout when the juice has been extracted. This is helpful in improving oral health.
12.A tincture can be made by packing mullein leaves into a jar and covering with a strongalcohol such as vodka.Ensure the leaves are covered entirely and keep in a dark place for 8 weeks, shakingoccasionally. All of the benefits of these leaves are absorbed by the alcohol, and it can then be strainedto remove the leaves.
13.Take a few drops of this tincture under the tongue for a few minutes before swallowing. This is a faster method than brewing a tea and works very quickly.
14.Alternatively soak the leaves in olive oil for 3 weeks. This can be applied into the ears to treat ear infections.
15.You can also take a large leaf which has been boiled in water and lay this over painfulareas on the body.It lowers inflammation effectively for those suffering with joint pain.

Dengue fever: Symptoms, treatment, and prevention

Dengue feverr: Symptoms, treatment, and prevention

Dengue fever: Symptoms, treatment, and prevention

Dengue feverr: Symptoms, treatment, and prevention

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne disease caused by a virus of the same name. It’s a part of the Flaviviridae family, known for its other famous members: YellowFever, West Nile, and Zika. It’s also referred to as breakbone fever, but that should be the least of your concern...whatyou need to worry about is a complete.system.shutdown.Most commonly found in tropical regions, Dengue puts 40-50% of the global population at risk. With symptoms ranging from fever, rashes, painful joint and muscle aches to vomiting,Dengue can resemble the flu, but it can become life-threatening in a much different way. When the pH changes, it changes the configuration of the Dengue virus.Actually, at that point I could grab the model.Great.Okay, thank you.Cool, all right.Dengue prop.Im Shannon Bennett.I work at the California Academy of Sciences.Im curator of microbiology and chief of science, and I study the genetic makeup of Dengue viruses.Ive been working on it since 2000 and I was one of the first people to look at large swathsof the Dengue virus genome to pinpoint where key mutations were occurring to drive itsspread and pathogenicity.

How Dengue spreads

To understand how Dengue spreads, it helps to start with how it gets in.Enter, the mosquito: specifically a species called Aedes aegypti. Its a day-biting mosquito. It actually prefers the crepuscular times of the day, so thats dawn or dusk, and itwill feed on multiple people. It might feed three or four times in its lifetime, and that gives the Dengue virus ample opportunityto be passed between human hosts by a single infected female mosquito. Now, what makes these types of viruses so quick to take off, is their genetic architecture, which allows them to begin producing proteins immediately after they enter the host cell.Dengue virus has been an interesting puzzle for a lot of scientists and clinicians. It is probably infecting almost 400 million people a year as far as we know, but onlya small fraction of people actually get sick, about 90 million a year.So were not really sure why some people get sick and other people dont get sick.Once the Dengue virus gets in through the skin, it can take several days to a week eventuallyfind its way into your lymph nodes and, then, bloodstream. From there, it’s just one big fast-track to Flavivirus-town.So Dengues primary target and the way it sustains itself in your body is in white bloodcells, and these are macrophages and monocytes that are antibody receptor-bearing cells thatthe Dengue virus uses to bind and enter the cell. The cell is naturally taking anything thats bound to its receptors and phagocytizing it,so basically pulling it into an internal cellular capsule, and once that happens, the pH ofthat capsule changes. And when the pH changes and that lock-and-key relationship between the virus protein andthe host cell receptor proteins experience that change in pH, a pore is formed... andthrough that pore, the virus genome enters into the hosts cytoplasm. And from there it’s a pretty sophisticated version of copy and paste. The virus uses the host cell to duplicate itself.Or as Dr. Bennett describes it, budding. In contrast, many people are familiar with other mosquito-borne diseases like malaria.Malaria is a burster. At the sporozoite stage as its replicating in your red blood cells, its copying itselfto a great degree until basically your host cell explodes or bursts open and spreads sporozoitesaround.Dengue virus doesnt do that. Its a budder. Its working with the host cell and taking advantage of host cell energy and metabolismto create new virus particles.Dr. Bennett and her team study the genetic differences between the four serotypes ofDengue. Those differences and similarities are what makes co-circulating stereotypes a dangerouscombination, contributing to more severe episodes of the illness. They are co-circulating today all over the world, but in the old days they didnt overlapso much. When they started to move around...we also saw more hemorrhagic fever and more severeforms of the disease, so one hypothesis is because were being exposed to multiple strainsof Dengue throughout our lifetime and thats creating this risk to develop severe disease. And yes, hemorrhagic fever is just as bad as it sounds.

So what happens in a secondary infection is that those antibodies that youve producedto the first one dont bind as efficiently to the Dengue virus.Instead of being neutralized in the endosome, it can enter the host cell more efficientlyand create more virus. What we think is happening is that its creating more infected cells than you would have inthe case of a primary infection or a re-exposure to that same primary serotype because of theinefficiency and the lack of perfect match between the antibody and the new virus.Typically, once your immune system fights off a disease, it remembers it for futureencounters.Usually that works. But with Dengue, immunity to one serotype doesn’t protect you against a differentserotype, and can in fact enhance the infection, making a second or even third encounter withthe disease much worse...because your immune system’s memory is stimulated but not agreat match. We think that that is whats causing this out of control immune response that acceleratesand eventually leads to the hemorrhagic fever that we see and even in some cases shock syndrome. So Dengue shock syndrome is another severe outcome of this over-reactive proinflammatoryimmune response.

One impact of having an overabundance of proinflammatory cytokines is that membranes become leaky, and when capillary beds become leaky, blood will flow out.And you start to bleed out into your capillary beds and into the tissues, and then fluidsto flow into your bloodstream causing potentially hypovolemic shock and death by Dengue shocksyndrome. And both hypovolemic shock and fever can be deceptive. The most frustrating phenomenon with Dengue virus is that people seem to start to recover. They might have three to four to maybe seven days of fever depending on when they firstexhibit symptoms, and then the fevers starting to go down, we can sort of see the diminishmentof symptoms, and then hemorrhagic fever or shock syndrome can kick in very quickly afterthat. So Dengue is not something to take lightly, but Dr. Bennett says these extreme cases arestill pretty rare.Of the nearly half a billion cases reported annually, only 500,000 are severe, with manycountries reporting less than 1% fatality rate.Still, knowing the symptoms and ways to help prevent initial infection are key.And while there is a vaccine, there’s still a long way to go.The challenge with developing a vaccine for Dengue is that you need to develop a vaccinethats effective against all four serotypes simultaneously, and this is very unusual. There are vaccines that can vaccinate against all four types, but they dont do it to theequivalent level. So you might be mostly immune to one and then a little immune to some of the other stereotypes, and that too is not what we want.So stay tuned.

the best diet to follow according

what is the best diet to follow according to todays lifestyleor the season?

What is the right diet for you
See there can not be one diet, that we cannot say this is one diet, everyone should follow.you have to identifyfind out your own natureVata, Pitta, Kapha, Prakriti. What is your Prakriti? There are five hundred different types of Prakritiof which, which one you fitting you have to find out and among that basically ten Prakritiesand their combinationsso from that, you have to find out what suits youhmm,And you go into googleyou can find many those things. Sometimes they can beconfusing also .In some YouTubes, they say potatoes are very good for you, another youtube its very bad for you one place they say you must take almondsand nuts, in anotheranother scientist says no nutsthese you should never touch, you should avoid isnt it.Contradictory viewpoints are there.Thats why I would say you talk to a Nadi doctor,Ayurvedic doctor, show him your handhe will take the pulseand he will say, ok this time this type of diet is good for you.And you follow them.Vegan is good, but not for everybody, but some people.

I would say vegan may not be so good, you may have to take a little bit of yogurt along with that some milk may be necessary. But vegetarian food is good for everyone.Or if someone says, oh no you are not used too, you must have protein, you should have this/ otherwise you will become so weak. You refute it right away. The horses are vegetarians. They have so much power.Elephant is a vegetarian. He wont go weaker I tell you.elephant is a,Bulls are vegetarians,Buffalos are vegetarians, even donkey is a vegetarian.Even a donkey is a vegetarian. So vegetarian food is very suitableto human system, especiallyif you are on the intellectual side And you want to on a spiritual, intellectualor artistictendenciesThe best-suited food for you would beVegetarian diet.

Top 5 Heart Health Tips

Top 5 Heart Health Tips

Health is just like wealth.

Closeup of beautiful natural blond woman with glowing skin over blue background.
Unltill we loose it, we dont understand its real value. When there are some major issues going on related to our health, only then we say "No!Now I have to take care of my health".If we take care before we get ill, then we dont have to face the pain of diseases. The time and energy you spend daily on your mobile phone, if you invest only that amountof time and energy on your health, then you have no idea how much your life can be improved. So, in this weeks video I will share with you 5 simple and easy to implement tips whichare much more effective. So, lets get started -Smart idea .

1: Sleep on your left side

This picture clearly demonstrate that whywe should always sleep on our left side.According to the structure of our stomach, if we sleep on our right side then the stomachacids can cause a lot of problems in our health.Like improper digestion, problem in blood flow, heart burn.On the other hand if we sleep on our left side, the stomach acids can do their workmore efficiently and as a result digestion happen very well.Smart idea

2: Water drink reminder

In our busy life most of us totally forgetto drink water time to time.Or just when we feel thirsty, we drink a little bit to quench the thirst.Which is not good at all for our health. There is an app named water drink reminder.I have given the link in the description. This app can solve your this problem.Using this app you can easily keep track of when and how much water you are drinking dailyand also this app will remind you to drink water time to time by giving you notificationon your mobile. In childhood mom used to do it, now the app is doing it!Smart idea

3: Walk more

According to WHO that is World Health Organizationsrecommendation we need to walk 8000 steps daily in order to stay healthy and fit.

How many steps do you walk on a daily basis?I think most of you cant answer the question correctly.Lord Kelvin said, "If you cant measure it, you cannot improve it", so to measure yourdaily steps you can use a fitness tracker.I personally use Mi Band 2 Hrx edition. You can buy it by following the link given in the description. It will help you to get an exact idea of what is your current daily average steps and howmuch you should increase it.It is not necessary to buy the band to walk.If something is necessary, that is awareness.Find out any excuse to walk more.Use stairs instead of lift, or you can just walk here and there in your house also, littleis more.Smart idea

4: Chew your food 32 times

According to Ayurveda, the root of our everydisease is our stomach. If we can keep our stomach healthy, then we can easily stay healthy. The main two things that are needed for a healthy stomach - 1.Avoiding the junk foods, 2.Have a good digestion power. In both the two cases it will be very helpful if you can eat your food after chewing it32 times.Any junk food, if you chew it for 32 times and then you swallow it, you will notice itwill not feel so tasty anymore. On the other side, if you chew any healthy food for 32 times, it will be more tasty toeat. So if you can make it a habit of chewing your food 32 times, then automatically you willno more like to eat junk foods at all.And also 50% of the digestion process is supposed to be happen while the food is in our mouth. The remaining 50% in our stomach. If we swallow the food quickly, then the part of the mouth remains incomplete and as a resultwe suffer from different digestion problems.

So if we can make it a habit of chewing our food 32 times, then we can easily overcomemany of these problems.Smart idea

5: Create a healthy environment

If your all close friends are like this, thatthey all day keep eating junk foods, for whom being lazy is cool and doing exercise is boring. And they used to smoke 10 to 12 cigarettes daily, also many often they celebrate withalcohol party, if all of them follow this kind of lifestyle, then it is common for youto adopt the same kind of lifestyle to cope up with them.On the other hand if your close friends are health conscious, who regularly exercise, avoid junk foods as much as possible, then it is common for you to adopt similar lifestylelike them.So if possible try to choose your closest 5 persons in life with whom you spend themost of the time in a day, who are health conscious.Who understand that "Health is the real wealth" and also practice it.Also if your freeze is all time packed up with a lot of junk foods like cadbury andcold drinks, then stop doing this.Because if your own room is full of junk foods then it is meaningless to try to be healthy.Because it will become too hard for you.So try to create a healthy environment around you, which will always motivate you to leada healthy lifestyle. At the end lets quickly sum up the whole video. To easily stay healthy -

Hair Loss: Exposure to Air Pollution Can Cause The Problem

Hair Loss: Exposure to Air Pollution Can Cause The Problem

bearded middle aged man holding hairbrush, hair loss concept
Dust and fuel particles in the air can make your hair follicles weak and lead to hair fall. This is what a new study has revealed. According to scientists, common air pollutants actually reduces the levels of proteins associated with hair growth and retention. In fact, the more you are exposed to the pollutants, the more you will experience hair loss. This increases your probability of getting bold gradually. And, undoubtedly, nobody likes to be bald. So, here we help you with some of the scientifically-proven natural ways to get rid of this problem.

Indian gooseberry

Also known as amla, Indian gooseberry can help you promote hair growth. It boasts of its proliferative effect, that stimulates the dermal papilla cells and helps in hair growth, says a study published in the Research Journal of Medicinal Plants. All you need to do is to take few drops of amla oil and apply it on your scalp thoroughly. Let it stay there for at least an hour. Then, rinse with normal water. Use it twice a week.

Yoghurt

Being jam-packed with probiotics, yoghurt can alter your hair cuticles. Probiotics actually have an acidic pH, which can prevent hair damage and its fall. This is what a study published in the PLOS One journal states. Consume a bowl full of yoghurt and see the benefits yourself.

Fenugreek

International Journal of Pharmacology states that fenugreek can prevent hair fall and also make your hair strong. It works due to the presence of protein and nicotine acid in it. These nutrients are quite beneficial against hair fall. They are also known to help to get rid of the problems like hair thinning, baldness, dryness of hair. All you need to do is to soak a few fenugreek seeds in water and leave them overnight. In the morning, make a paste of the soaked fenugreeks and apply on your hair as a hair mask. Rinse off with water after an hour.

Heart Health Tips: How can you improve your heart health?

Heart Health Tips: How can you improve your heart health?

By Mr Rohit Shelatkar
Heart disease or cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally. According to medical reports, a person dies from heart-related maladies every 40 seconds all over the world. This means approximately 2200 deaths occur every day and more than 17.3 million deaths are caused by some form of cardiovascular problems annually. The most common forms of heart disease take place due to conditions and functions that cause the heart to become less effective; often due to a plaque build-up in the coronary arteries, reduction in blood flow, blockages and heart attacks. These conditions are a result of factors such as calcium build-up, cholesterol, fats and more.
While heart problems occur often, it can easily be a preventable disease. A healthy heart is the key to avoiding cardiovascular issues and the first step in this direction is by staying vigilant. Many times, heart disease can begin coming into effect without anyone recognising its symptoms. This is why it is crucial to be aware of the heart and general health and work towards a healthier lifestyle. Some of the ways one can do this are as discussed below:
How to improve heart health? Change food habits!A healthy heart is a result of good eating habits. The BMI index of the body has a direct relation with the risk of cardiovascular diseases – an increase in the BMI index can lead to an elevated risk of these diseases. This risk is also associated with a high waist girth and subsequent increase in visceral fat, making low carbohydrate diets an important ally in reducing said risk, as opposed to a low-fat diet.
Switch to a heart healthy diet plan!In fact, according to a study conducted on patients with Type-2 diabetes, a low carbohydrate diet yielded an 11% visceral fat loss, in comparison to a low-fat diet yielding only a 1% decrease in visceral fat. Including foods such as avocadoes, mixed berries, celery, salmon, mackerel, dark chocolate, a moderate amount of red wine and nuts like pistachios, almonds and walnuts in the daily diet is the key to a happier heart.
World Heart Day: How hypertension and blood pressure can affect your heart muscles
Wondering what foods prevent heart attacks?

Here are other food habits that must be followed such as:

  • minimizing the intake of refined grains
  • added salt and sweeteners
  • moving plant-based foods to the centre of the plate,
  • including seeds and nuts in your daily diet
  • avoiding oils
  • supplementing the body with additional Vitamin B12 and
  • avoiding saturated and Trans fat

  • Keep a check on blood pressure levelsAs the blood pressure levels in the body rise, the coronary arteries serving the heart become clogged with plaque, causing a heart attack. It is important to keep track of these levels and make lifestyle changes as per requirement. Keeping the level of blood pressure stable is a process that requires frequent monitoring, and this is a procedure that should be put into effect as soon as possible.
World Heart Day 2019: Nourish your heart with these healthy diet tips!
    Be on the move!
A diseased heart is a result of unhealthy lifestyle habits, and this can be resolved at least in part by getting in shape. Obesity is a leading cause of heart disease, so it is imperative to adopt exercise as a daily routine. Just 30 minutes of running, swimming, yoga or other cardio exercises will help in making the heart a lot healthier.
Adopt healthy habitsCardiovascular disease is the result of unhealthy behaviour which is why it is important to make changes in the lifestyle for the better. Reducing dependence on alcohol and tobacco, keeping good dental hygiene, managing stress well and improving posture are some of the ways heart disease can be avoided.
Drink enough waterDehydration causes damaging effect to the body’s organs. When there is inadequacy of water in the body, the blood volume decreases. The heart has to pump faster and harder to provide the required amount of blood to the other organs, putting immense strain on it. Thus, drinking enough water will keep the blood circulating well and will keep the heart beating at the required tempo.

How to lose a stone in three weeks - Dr Michael Mosley’s diet secret for best weight loss

How to lose a stone in three weeks - Dr Michael Mosley’s diet secret for best weight loss

Dr Michael Mosley is famous for creating the Fast 800 diet plan - which can help dieters shed a stone in three week.

Looking to the increasingly popular health trend of fasting, this diet recommends eating 800 calories a day for two weeks.

Michael Mosley wrote for the Daily Mail: “Stick to the plan and you could lose up to a stone in three weeks.”

But there are a number of other tips he advises dieters to follow to shed the pounds. He revealed all to Express.co.uk.

READ MORE: What exactly to eat on the keto diet weight loss plan to boost benefits revealed

    Dr Michael Mosley’s diet tips

    Step one: The three Fs

    Fluid

Did you know that many of us are walking around in a constant state of dehydration, totally unaware of the health risk being dehydrated poses? When you’re not getting enough water, you’ll be sluggish, lethargic, and most likely mistake thirst for hunger.Drinking plenty of water can help you feel fuller for longer, so make sure you stay hydrated.

    Fat

We’ve been told all our lives to avoid fat. In response, the food industry has offered a range of sugar-laden low-fat ‘diet’ foods; obesity rates, meanwhile, continue to soar. But far from being a cause of weight gain, ‘good’ fats – rich in mono-and polyunsaturates – powerfully curb the appetite, slowing the rate at which the stomach empties and so delaying the point at which it signals for more food. To feel fuller for longer, select olive oil, nuts, oily fish and (in moderation) full-fat dairy products.

    Fibre

The more fibre you eat, the happier your gut will be. Fibre promotes a better gut microbiome, increasing the levels of good-mood chemicals that are picked up by your brain. In addition, fibre induces release of a chemical called “PYY” which reduces appetite.

To feel fuller for longer, then, pile your plate with fresh vegetables (especially greens), unprocessed grains and legumes.

Step two: Eat more protein, and eat it first

It is well known that moderately increasing the amount of protein in your diet can help you to feel more satisfied after meals. What is less well known, though, is that the time of day that you eat protein also matters.

To test whether protein at the first meal of the day could help people to feel fuller for longer, a US-based study in 2014 divided volunteers into three groups. One group ate a breakfast containing 35g of protein; the second group ate breakfast containing 13g protein; the third group, meanwhile, skipped breakfast altogether. Later on that morning, the volunteers were tested for levels of dopamine, the chemical that drives our reward circuits. They were also asked to rate the intensity of their pre-lunch food cravings.

The results were clear: of all groups, the high-protein breakfast group recorded the highest dopamine levels and lowest pre-lunch food cravings.

Eating protein at the first meal of the day helps you to feel fuller for longer because after a protein meal, levels of a chemical called tyrosine – a building-block for dopamine – rise inside the brain. By increasing its own dopamine supply as the next meal approaches, the brain experiences a much weaker dopamine hit’ from high-calorie food.

This does not, of course, mean that you have to eat breakfast early in the day. For many, a midday ‘breakfast’ helps to extend the period of non-eating and so draws down the full benefits of fasting. But what it does mean is that when you do break your fast, eating a higher-protein meal will help to stave off sugar cravings later on.

    Step three: Avoid trap foods

Have you ever wondered why it is so hard, once you have started eating junk food, to stop? Just as the right foods help you to feel fuller for longer, the wrong foods can do the exact reverse, throwing our brains into a cascade of craving.

Abundant, energy-dense, hyper-palatable foods are an incredibly recent arrival in our food environment. In 3 million years of human evolution, nothing has prepared us for it. In consequence, our brains are completely unequipped to cope with the intense reward that such food delivers, and switch to ‘more- and-more’ mode after the first bite, especially if we take that bite when we are hungry. Junk food is trap food, designed to make you lose money and gain pounds. As a guide, the more aggressively it is advertised, the worse it probably is for you.

If you want to feel fuller for longer, keep away from it. When you’re out and about, bring a packed lunch; likewise, if you have to keep a stock of high-calorie snacks in the house for children, keep it locked up and away from the kitchen.

To feel fuller for longer, then, take a few simple steps – choose more of the right foods – especially good fats and fibre – avoid the wrong foods, eat protein, and eat it early. Like happiness, fullness really is a gut feeling.

    Dengue fever viral disease spread

Dengue fever is a viral disease spread by mosquitoes.

Mosquito, Biting, Female, Parasite, Disease, Sucking

    reason

Dengue fever is caused by 1 to 4 different but related viruses. It is spread by mosquito bites, most commonly the mosquito Aedes aegypti, which is found in tropical and subtropical regions. This area includes:

    Indonesian archipelago in northeastern Australia
    South and Central America
    Southeast Asia
    Sub-Saharan Africa
Parts of the Caribbean (including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands)
Dengue fever is rare in the US mainland. Dengue fever should not be confused with dengue hemorrhagic fever, which is a different disease caused by the same type of virus, but has much more severe symptoms.

When the pH changes, it changes the configuration of the Dengue virus.Actually, at that point I could grab the model.Great.Okay, thank you.Cool, all right.Dengue prop.Im Shannon Bennett.I work at the California Academy of Sciences.Im curator of microbiology and chief of science, and I study the genetic makeup of Dengue viruses.Ive been working on it since 2000 and I was one of the first people to look at large swathsof the Dengue virus genome to pinpoint where key mutations were occurring to drive itsspread and pathogenicity.

    signs and symptoms of cancer

    signs and symptoms of cancer

    Cancer, Newspaper, Word, Magnifier
Both signs and symptoms are signs of injury, disease, illness - signs that something is not right in the body.

A sign is a sign that may be seen by someone else - perhaps a loved one, or a doctor, nurse, or other health care professional. For example, fever, rapid breathing and abnormal lung sounds heard through a stethoscope may be symptoms of pneumonia.

A symptom is a sign that is felt or seen by a person who has it, but cannot be seen easily by anyone else. For example, weakness, pain, and shortness of breath may be symptoms of pneumonia.

Having a sign or symptom may not be enough to figure out what causes it. For example, a rash in a child can be a sign of many things, such as poison ivy, measles, a skin infection, or a food allergy. But if the child sees other signs and symptoms like high fever, chills, pain and sore throat, the doctor can take a better picture of the disease. Sometimes, the signs and symptoms of a patient still do not give enough clues to the doctor to ascertain what causes the disease. Then medical tests such as X-rays, blood tests or biopsies may be required.

How are the signs and symptoms of cancer?

Cancer is a group of diseases that can cause almost any signs or symptoms. The signs and symptoms will depend on where the cancer is, how big it is and how much it affects the organs or tissues. If the cancer has spread (metastasized), signs or symptoms may appear in different parts of the body.

As the cancer progresses, it may begin to emphasize nearby organs, blood vessels, and nerves. This pressure causes some signs and symptoms of cancer. If the cancer is in an important area, such as some part of the brain, even the smallest tumor can cause symptoms.

But sometimes cancer starts in places where it does not cause any signs or symptoms until it grows large enough. Pancreas cancers, for example, usually do not cause symptoms until they are large enough that they press on the surrounding nerves or organs (this causes back or abdominal pain). Others may develop around the bile duct and stop the flow of bile. This makes the eyes and skin look pale (jaundice). As long as a pancreatic cancer causes signs or symptoms like these, it usually occurs in an advanced stage. This means that it has spread beyond the place it started - the pancreas.

A cancer can also cause symptoms such as fever, extreme fatigue (fatigue), or weight loss. This may be because cancer cells use too much of the body's energy supply, or they may release substances that change the way the body makes energy from food. Cancer can also cause the immune system to react in ways that produce these signs and symptoms.

Sometimes, cancer cells release substances into the bloodstream that cause symptoms that are not usually associated with cancer. For example, some cancers of the pancreas can release substances that cause blood clots in the veins of the feet. Some lung cancers make hormones such as substances that increase calcium levels in the blood. It affects the nerves and muscles, making a person feel weak and dizzy.

How are signs and symptoms helpful?

Treatment is best when diagnosed early - while it is still small and less likely to spread to other parts of the body. This is often a better chance for treatment, especially if the cancer can be removed with surgery.

A good example of the importance of early detection of cancer is melanoma skin cancer. It can be easy to remove if it has not developed deep into the skin. The 5-year survival rate at this early stage (the percentage of people surviving at least 5 years after diagnosis) is about 98%. Once melanoma has spread to other parts of the body, the 5-year survival rate falls to about 16%.

Sometimes people ignore the symptoms. Perhaps they do not know that the symptom may be wrong. Or they may be fearful of what the symptoms may be and do not want to seek medical help. Maybe they just can't afford to get medical care.

Some symptoms, such as tiredness or cough, are more likely to be caused by something other than cancer. Symptoms may seem insignificant, especially if a clear cause or problem remains only for a short time. In the same way, a person may reason that a breast lump-like symptom is possibly a cyst that will relieve itself. But no symptoms should be ignored or ignored, especially if it is prolonged or worsens.

Most likely, the symptoms are not caused by cancer, but it is necessary that they be investigated, just in case. If cancer is not the cause, a doctor can help find out what the cause is and, if necessary, treat it.

Sometimes, it is possible to detect cancer before symptoms occur. The American Cancer Society and other health groups recommend cancer-related investigations and some tests for people, even if they have no symptoms.

Dengue Fever: Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments

Dengue Fever: Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments

Dengue fever: Symptoms, treatment, and prevention
Dengue (pronounced DENgee) fever is a painful, debilitating mosquito-borne disease characterized by dengue virus closely related to any one. These viruses are related to viruses that cause West Nile infection and yellow fever.

An estimated 400 million dengue infections occur worldwide each year, with approximately 96 million resulting from the disease. Most cases occur in tropical regions of the world, with the greatest risk being:

    Indian subcontinent
    Southeast Asia
    South china
    Taiwan
    Pacific Islands
Caribbean (except Cuba and Cayman Islands)
    Mexico
    Africa
Central and South America (except Chile, Paraguay and Argentina)

Most cases in the United States occur in people who contracted infection while traveling abroad. But the risk is increasing for people living along the Texas-Mexico border and in other parts of the southern United States. In 2014, dengue fever outbreaks in Hawaii were identified in 2013, along with other outbreaks in Brownsville, Texas and Key West, Fla.

Dengue fever is spread by a dengue virus-infected Aedes mosquito bite. The mosquito becomes infected when it bites a person with dengue virus in its blood. It cannot be spread directly from one person to another.

    Symptoms of Dengue fever

Symptoms, which usually begin four to six days after infection and last up to 10 days, may include

    Sudden high fever
    severe headache
    Pain behind the eyes
    Severe joint and muscle pain
    Fatigue
    Nausea
    Vomiting
Skin redness, which appears two to five days after the onset of fever
Mild bleeding (such as bleeding from the nose, bleeding from the gums, or easy sores)

Sometimes, the symptoms are mild and can be mistaken for flu or other viral infections. Younger children and those who have never had an infection before have more milk cases than older children and adults. However, serious problems can develop. These include dengue hemorrhagic fever, a rare complication of high fever, damage to lymph and blood vessels, bleeding from nose and gums, enlargement of liver and failure of circulatory system. Symptoms can lead to massive bleeding, trauma, and death. This is called dengue shock syndrome (DSS).

People with a weakened immune system, as well as people with second or subsequent dengue infection, are considered at greater risk for developing dengue hemorrhagic fever.

10 Healthy Lifestyle Tips for Adults

10 Healthy Lifestyle Tips for Adults

Health Tips, Health Advice, Health Blog
    1. Eat a variety of foods

For good health, we need more than 40 different nutrients, and no single food can supply them all. It is not about a single meal, it is about a balanced food choice over time that will make a difference!

A high-fat lunch can be followed by a low-fat dinner.
After a large meat portion at dinner, perhaps the fish should be the choice of the next day?

    2. Base your diet on carbohydrate rich foods

About half of the calories in our diet should come from carbohydrate-rich foods such as rice, pasta, potatoes and bread. It is a good idea to include at least one of these in every meal. Whole grains, such as whole grain bread, pasta and cereals, will increase our fiber intake.

    3. Replace Saturated with Unsaturated Fats

Fat is important for good health and proper body function. However, its great effect can negatively affect our weight and heart health. Different types of fats have different health effects, and some of these tips can help us keep the balance right:

We should limit the consumption of total and saturated fats (often coming from foods of animal origin), and avoid trans fats altogether; Reading labels helps identify sources.
Eating fish 2-3 times a week, along with serving at least one oily fish, will contribute to our correct intake of unsaturated fat.
When cooking, we must boil, steam or bake, instead of frying, remove the fatty part of the meat, use vegetable oils.

    4. Enjoy fruits and vegetables to the fullest

Fruits and vegetables are one of the most important foods to give us enough vitamins, minerals and fiber. We should try to eat at least 5 servings a day. For example, a glass of fresh fruit juice at breakfast, perhaps an apple and a slice of watermelon as breakfast, and a good portion of different vegetables at each meal.

    5. Reduce salt and sugar intake

High salt intake can cause high blood pressure, and increase the risk of heart disease. There are various ways to reduce salt in the diet:

While shopping, we can choose products with low sodium content.
During cooking, salt can be replaced with spices, increasing the flavor and variety of flavors.
While eating, there should be no salt on the table, or at least not salt before tasting.
Sugar imparts sweetness and an attractive taste, but sugary foods and drinks are rich in energy, and as an exquisite treat, are best enjoyed in moderation. We can use fruits instead of sweetening our foods and beverages.

    6. Eat regularly, control portion size

Eating a variety of foods regularly and in the right amounts is the best formula for a healthy diet.

Skipping meals, especially snacks, can often lead to an out-of-control appetite, often resulting in unhelpful eating. Snacking between meals can help control hunger, but snacking should not replace proper food. For snacks, we can choose yogurt, a handful of fresh or dried fruits or vegetables (like carrot sticks), unsalted nuts or perhaps some bread with cheese.

Paying attention to portion size will help us not to consume too many calories, and will allow us to eat all those foods without eliminating any.

Cooking the right amount helps to fill the stomach.
Some appropriate serving sizes are: 100 grams of meat; A medium piece of fruit; Half a cup of raw pasta.
Using smaller plates helps with smaller servings.
Packaged foods, along with the calorific value on the pack, can aid in portion control.
If eating out, we can share a part with a friend.

    7. Drink more fluids

Adults need to drink at least 1.5 liters of liquid a day! Or more if it is too hot or they are physically active. Water is the best source, of course, and we can use tap or mineral water, sparkling or non-sparkling, plain or flavored. Fruit juices, tea, soft drinks, milk and other drinks, all can be cured - from time to time.

    8. Maintain a healthy body weight

The exact weight for each of us depends on factors like our gender, height, age and genes. Being affected by obesity and overweight increases the risk of many diseases including diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

Excess body fat comes from overeating. Excess calories can come from any calorie nutrient - protein, fat, carbohydrate or alcohol, but fat is the most concentrated source of energy. Physical activity helps us expend energy, and makes us feel good. The message is reasonably simple: if we are gaining weight, we need to eat less and be more active!

    9. Go ahead, make it a habit!

Physical activity is important for people of all weight categories and health conditions. It helps us burn extra calories, it helps the heart and circulation
